At Seaside Family Medicine we believe in treating the entire individual which includes both physical and mental health. Our providers are trained and comfortable with providing the primary care management of behavioral health conditions. Below is a full list of behavioral health conditions treated here. If you do not see a condition on the list, please call the office and we will be happy to let you know if it is something our providers manage.


Behavioral Health Services:

  • Evaluation and treatment of anxiety in patients 11 years and older

  • Evaluation and treatment of depression in patients 11 years and older

  • Evaluation and treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients ages 5 years and older

Attention Deficit Disorder Services:

Pediatric ADHD

We evaluate for and treat ADHD in patients 5 and older

Evaluation

  • Children with symptoms of ADHD will be thoroughly evaluated by our pediatric provider

  • Evaluation typically consists of an interview with the parents and child, a physical exam of the child, and behavioral checklists completed by the child’s parent(s) and teacher(s). Labs and consults with other specialists are not typically needed but will be ordered if our provider deems necessary

  • Parents also have the option to have their child tested using QBCheck, an FDA approved test that provides objective data to support the diagnosis of ADHD. There is more about QBCheck at the bottom of this page.

Treatment

  • At Seaside Family Medicine we follow current recommendations when treating ADHD

  • Our providers are knowledgeable about all of the treatment options for ADHD including the variety of medications available

  • We work with the family to develop a treatment plan that everyone is comfortable with and works best for the patient

  • Response to treatment will be closely monitored by our pediatric provider with input from the family regarding if the treatment plan is working for the patient


Adult ADHD

Our adult medicine providers evaluate and treat ADHD in patients 18 years and older.

Evaluation

  • Patients 18 and older will be evaluated by one of our adult providers

  • Evaluation typically consists of an interview with the patient, completion of a behavioral symptom checklist, and a physical exam. Labs and consults with other specialists are not typically required

  • Adults being evaluated for ADHD may be required to complete QBCheck

Treatment

  • We follow current recommendations when adult ADHD

  • Our provider is knowledgeable about all of treatment options for ADHD including the variety of medications available.

  • We will work with the patient to settle on a treatment that they are comfortable with

  • Response to treatment will be closely monitored by one of our adult providers with input from the patient regarding if the treatment plan is working for them

  • Patients who have previously been diagnosed with ADHD and have not been on medications for over a year may be required to complete the evaluation process listed above including QBCheck
